Futuristic co-op shooter game
Mauled is a free-to-play action game for PC developed by Elements Games. It is an online multiplayer co-op shooter set in a futuristic world wherein players need to fight against endless waves of monsters that appear out of mysterious portals. It features multiple character classes and a variety of weapons to choose from.
Much like Warframe or Destiny 2, Mauled is a game that leans heavily into multiplayer gameplay that has players cooperating and working together in order to survive. They will also need to be aware of boss fights that happen periodically and change their tactics accordingly.
Mysterious portals
Mauled is basically a sci-fi co-op shooter set in the distant future. It tells of an alien race invading the world, appearing through mysterious portals. Your task is to defend against the enemy and survive for as long as you can. Form a team with other players online and work together to increase your chances of survival from the impending threat.
There are four weapon classes to choose from in this game, ranging from common, rare, epic, and legendary. Combine them with specialized traps to take out more enemies at once. Between rounds, you get a chance to rest at citadels. This is also where you acquire enhancements and weapons upgrades and regenerate your health in preparation before the next wave of enemies arrives.
Regarding mature content, the shooting mechanism incorporates blood effects when dismembering monsters. However, the game is not without its drawbacks, as there are some aspects where it can improve. First, there's no in-game map, so it can be hard to find enemies and allies sometimes. In relation to that, no enemy counter lets you know how many enemies are left to defeat.
Don't get mauled
In summary, if you're looking for a new multiplayer shooter to play with friends, Mauled is a decent game you can check out. It's pretty straightforward, focusing on the combat than having a deep story. The upgraded weapons are varied and complemented by the enhancements and traps deployable across the map. Hopefully, the things mentioned above will be addressed soon in an update.
